Story Sale!

I'm happy to announce that my short story, "Now We Are Stars" is under contract to be published in the Autumn 2025 edition of The Colored Lens.

I wrote this story several years ago after discovering Mongolian rock music (it's a thing, look it up). The music of bands like The Hu and Nine Treasures is filled with beautiful, melodic, traditional oriental instruments played over the top of heart pounding heavy metal riffs, and interspersed with Mongolian throat singing. The music is amazing and I was hooked from the very first riff. Being ignorant of throat singing at the time, my only prior exposure came from CDs of Buddhist monks who sit on Himalayan mountain tops chanting in the deep guttural music. So at the time, I thought throat singing might be a religious thing to them. This made me wonder if these music groups were committing some kind of blasphemy by using it in rock music. The answer is, of course not. But it sparked a story idea in mind, which eventually became, "Now We Are Stars".

This story won an Honorable Mention in the L. Ron Hubbard Writers of the Future contest. I've been shopping it around ever since. I love this story, and am thrilled that The Colored Lens also saw the magic in it and decided to publish it.

The release date isn't set yet, and ordering options will be posted once the information is available.
